Pewter

For companies with 1,000+ people

License your operating records on your own terms

Larger companies hold years of email, tickets, documents and system records that AI developers want to license. The questions are larger too: what is in scope, what is excluded, who sees what, and how use is limited. Pewter coordinates the process with your legal, security and finance teams, and the licensing partner makes the offer.

What we coordinate

From scoping to signature

Scope by system and business unit

We map which systems, teams and years are worth licensing, so you can start with one unit or one system instead of the whole company.

Exclusions you set

Regulated, privileged, customer and third-party data can be carved out before anything is sampled. Your counsel decides what stays home.

A sample under your controls

A quality sample, if you agree to one, is chosen by your team and shared the way your security team specifies. We answer in writing who sees it and when it is deleted.

Terms your counsel can negotiate

Price, exclusivity, permitted use, term, deletion, audit rights and payment milestones are all on the table, in one written agreement.

A share of what is built

Some licenses pay a fee plus a written share of revenue from what is built on the data. If that matters to you, we raise it in the negotiation. Our owner's guide covers how.

One point of contact

One of our partners runs the process with your team, from the first call through signature and payment.

Before your first call

Questions your team should ask us

We answer each of these in writing, for your specific deal.

Who is the buyer, and who signs?

Our licensing partner makes the offer and signs the license with you; the AI developers who use the data are named or described in the agreement. We don't name the partner on this site, and you learn who it is before you sign anything.

Who sees raw data, and where is it processed?

Before an offer, only an agreed sample, and only if you share one. Pewter or the licensing partner may review it before de-identification. Where the full export is de-identified and who does it are set out for your deal before you sign. See security and data handling.

What protections come with a deal?

That depends on the deal and goes in the agreement: permitted use, deletion, audit rights and payment milestones, and for larger transactions sometimes escrow, an independent review of the de-identified data or specific insurance. We don't advertise these as standard.

How is Pewter paid?

The licensing partner pays Pewter a fee when a deal closes. You pay nothing. Because the partner pays our fee, we are not your agent; your counsel should review the agreement.

How long does it take?

It depends on scope, the number of systems and how quickly your legal and security review moves. We give you a realistic plan after the first call rather than a number here.
